Raymond James & Associates announces leadership changes in Southern Division

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James announced the promotion of Tom Galvin to Southern Division director of Raymond James & Associates (RJA) – the firm’s employee advisor channel, according to Tash Elwyn, RJA president and CEO. Galvin, currently the North Atlantic regional director within RJA’s Eastern Division, will transition to his new role effective October 1. As Southern Division director, Galvin will oversee the retention, recruitment and overall support of RJA advisors throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

Galvin will succeed Dick Ferguson, who after more than 25 years in leadership roles with Raymond James and Morgan Keegan has decided to return to serving his clients full time as a financial advisor with the firm. In line with the firm’s long-term focus and as part of a prudent succession plan, Ferguson will work with Galvin over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.

Ferguson has enjoyed a decorated career, joining Morgan Keegan in 1987 and serving in several senior positions during his tenure, including branch manager and president of Morgan Keegan’s Private Client Group. He transitioned to the role of division director of the Southern Division in 2012 as part of Raymond James’ acquisition of Morgan Keegan.

“Dick has been an incredible leader and asset to RJA,” said Elwyn. “He played an essential role in helping Morgan Keegan become a part of the Raymond James family, and he has had an immense impact on RJA during his time here. I’d like to thank him for his many valuable contributions to the firm, and we wish him all the best as he continues working with his high-net-worth clients across the Southeast.”

Galvin has been with Raymond James for more than 20 years, starting as a financial advisor in 1998. Advancing throughout his career at the firm, he has served as a branch manager, complex manager and most recently, regional director. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from the University of Texas at El Paso and completed the Securities Industry Institute at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Galvin is also a former member of the Raymond James Executive Council and was named RJA Branch Manager of the Year in 2006 and Complex Manager of the Year in 2010.

“Tom has extensive experience serving in key advisor support roles throughout his career,” said Elwyn. “He is a true leader with a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective of how to best support financial advisors. I am pleased to congratulate Tom on this promotion, and I look forward to his continued leadership and support of our advisors in his new role.”

In light of Galvin’s transition to the Southern Division, Kelly Anderson, who joined the firm last year to lead the Northern New York/New England region within RJA’s Eastern Division, will add the North Atlantic region to her responsibilities, also effective October 1. Her expanded territory will be the Northeast Region, which will include Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Eastern Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

Anderson has 20 years of notable experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Raymond James in 2019, she served as an executive director and complex manager for Morgan Stanley in Morristown, New Jersey, and before that, served as senior vice president and head of private wealth management for The Ayco Company, L.P., a Goldman Sachs Company. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Siena College and an executive MBA from State University of New York at Albany.

“Since joining the firm last year, Kelly has made a positive and significant impact within the Eastern Division,” said Elwyn. “She is a valued leader within RJA, and I’d like to congratulate her on her expanded leadership role.”
