Raymond James continues westward expansion, welcomes Oregon team managing more than $285 million in client assets

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Continuing the firm’s expansion in the West, Raymond James recently welcomed financial advisors Matt Jung, Daniel Dunham, CFP®, CRPC®, and Kim Laird in Lake Oswego, Oregon, to Raymond James Financial Services (RJFS) – the firm’s independent advisor channel – according to Bill Counsman, West regional director for RJFS.

“For many advisors, the pandemic and the immediate need for more resources and high-touch support have only solidified their decisions to make a move now, when they and their clients need it most,” said Counsman. “I’m pleased that Raymond James’ strength and stability, coupled with the extensive resources, continue to resonate with outstanding advisors like Matt, Dan and Kim. I’m proud that the firm’s unique offering continues to be attractive to high quality advisors, particularly as we grow Raymond James’ presence in the West.”

The trio operates as PDX Wealth Management (PDXWM) and joins from Waddell & Reed, where they managed more than $285 million in client assets for a variety of clients, including business owners, families and individuals, retirees and women investors. Joining the advisors at Raymond James are Kevin Fredrickson, head of training and planning at PDXWM and RJFS branch associate, and Megan Layton, executive associate at PDXWM and RJFS registered representative.

“The decision was easy. All five of us wrote down our first choice, and it was Raymond James,” said Jung, CEO of PDXWM and RJFS financial advisor. “We all wanted to be with a large firm that had all the capabilities that our clients could ever need. Especially now, in the middle of a pandemic, having a strong firm behind you becomes even more important. We felt like we could make the transition and do it well, and we wanted our clients and our team to be able to benefit from the depth of resources, technology and support now. We’re excited about our growth ahead, now with Raymond James as our partner.”

Jung joined Raymond James after 21 years with Waddell & Reed. He is a graduate of Portland State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Dunham, CFO of PDXWM and RJFS financial advisor, joined Raymond James after spending 16 years as a financial advisor with Waddell & Reed. He graduated from Clark College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in history, and from Western Seminary, where he received a master’s in divinity.

Laird, RJFS financial advisor, joined the industry in 2016 at Waddell & Reed, where he remained before joining Raymond James. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
