Raymond James welcomes financial advisors managing nearly $1 billion in assets in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Values-based culture, technology and high-touch support attract experienced financial advisor team

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James welcomed financial advisors John Gill and Bryan Horner and their team to Raymond James & Associates (RJA) – the firm’s employee advisor channel – in Virginia Beach, Virginia, according to Deborah Cicatelli, Mid-South regional director for RJA.

The advisors, alongside Mari Hurd, business practice coordinator, and Katie Bosler, senior registered client service associate, operate as Gill & Horner Wealth Management Group of Raymond James. They join from Truist Investment Services, Inc., where the advisors previously managed approximately $975 million in client assets. With their move, the team is now located in RJA’s Virginia Beach office, which is managed by Vic Philleo and is part of the Virginia Complex, led by Clifford Foster.

“As financial advisors, we feel a responsibility to choose a partner that shares our values and dedication to clients,” said Gill, managing director. “During our due diligence process, we were impressed by the focus at every level within Raymond James – across leadership, product and support areas – that clients come first.”

Gill has been in the financial services industry for more than 35 years. Prior to joining Raymond James, he worked for BB&T Scott & Stringfellow (now Truist Investment Services). Originally from Virginia Beach, Gill graduated from University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in Economics.

“Raymond James provides a unique advisor and client experience with the benefits of scale and superior technology, alongside high-touch service and a personal feel,” said Horner, vice president, Investments. “The firm’s focus on wealth management is evident in the services they provide to help support advisors’ relationships with clients. We feel that our team and our clients are well positioned to benefit from all of the resources here at Raymond James.”

Horner has been in the industry for over a decade, most recently with Truist Investment Services and prior to that, BB&T Securities. A native of Lynchburg, Virginia, Horner graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with a bachelor’s degree in Managerial Economics.

Hurd brings more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Gill & Horner’s team in 2008, Hurd was a senior registered sales associate at UBS Financial. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Randolph Macon College.

Bosler joined Gill & Horner’s team in 2013, and before that, she served as a client services representative at Old Point National Bank. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Tidewater Community College.

“John and Bryan have built an exceptional, client-centered practice, and we are proud to welcome their team to Raymond James and our Virginia Beach branch,” said Cicatelli. “From technology, to wealth planning, to leading research and more, we’re pleased to offer the high level of support that experienced financial advisor teams and their clients deserve and can expect here at Raymond James.”
