Raymond James welcomes independent advisor teams in California

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James welcomed independent advisors Deborah Juran, CIMA®, in Monterey; David Colley, CMFC®, and Jim Mills-Winkler in Long Beach; and Rod Smith in Newport Beach, California, to Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. (RJFS), the firm’s independent broker-dealer, according to Bill Counsman, West regional director for RJFS.

“We are proud that the services and support at Raymond James continue to attract quality financial advisors like Deborah, David, Jim and Rod,” said Counsman. “Further strengthening the firm’s footprint in key areas like California and the West has been a goal of Raymond James as we continue to expand. We’re looking forward to continued growth in this important market and supporting affiliated advisor teams in providing best-in-class service to their clients.”

Juran, founder of Juran Wealth Management and RJFS branch manager, brings more than 40 years of financial services experience, having worked at Morgan Stanley and most recently RBC. She, financial advisor Melissa Paddock and client service manager Jocelyn Galvan join from RBC, where the team previously managed $150 million in client assets.

“It was the incredible technology platform that Raymond James offered that first caught our attention,” said Juran. “After exposure to the powerhouse that the Raymond James home office provides, it wasn’t a question of ‘if,’ but ‘how soon.’”

“As we live through these difficult times, I am grateful we made this move,” continued Juran. “We are able to work remotely and seamlessly. The accessibility, level of expertise and passion to ‘get it done’ that we have experienced while working remotely is a testament to the level of professionalism Raymond James promotes top to bottom. We’re confident this is the best home for us and our clients.”

Colley and Mills-Winkler both join from Waddell & Reed. The two, who operated as separate practices while at Waddell & Reed, independently joined an existing Raymond James Financial Services-affiliated office, Crux Wealth Advisors (CWA), marking the practice’s third and fourth joins in the last seven months. Collectively, Colley and Mills-Winkler previously managed approximately $235 million in client assets.

Colley now operates as chief operating officer with CWA and RJFS financial advisor, adding additional support to CWA’s platform for advisors. He was with Waddell & Reed for more than 18 years, and before that, had a successful 15-year career as a management consultant in the health care field. Joining Colley are team members and financial advisors Ken Newberry, Deana Dyjor, David Tamashiro and Dane Gambill.

“The platform and the technology at the firm were by far the two most important aspects that attracted me to Raymond James,” said Colley. “I was also excited about the opportunity to join Crux Wealth Advisors, and the flexibility Raymond James offers successful practices like CWA to continue providing robust service and independent ownership to fellow advisors.”

Mills-Winkler gained 15 years of financial services industry experience with Waddell & Reed, following a successful 25-year career in the toy industry as a director of product development as well as a consultant. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Westminster in London, England.

Smith joins from Wells Fargo, where he previously managed more than $111 million in client assets. He has been in the financial services industry for more than 30 years, with experience at Pruco Securities Corporation and Lincoln Financial Securities Corporation, prior to Wells Fargo. Smith is now part of the Concurrent network. Concurrent’s network of financial advisors are registered representatives of Raymond James Financial Services. Smith is the fourth advisor to join Concurrent in the most recent quarter.
